Please find our product details below: Antique French Cross with Jesus Christ This cross is decided preceless item by indenpendent appraisal and by saint father of pyoter I in one of Moscow Church. The known history of cross take his start at xix-xviii century, when grand-grand mother (approx. 1870s) has married on Russian immigrant-who later with his family back to czar's Russia. This family are latest known owners of this cross, but indenpendent appraisal suggest that the cross is elder, but we dont have any information about it before this couple have it. The cross has been moved from France and since then has its history continued in czars Russia, then in soviet union and finally in present Russian federation. Unfortunately, there was two attempts to steal this item in 1942 and in 1998-both attempts was organized by jewelers and appraisal whom to this cross been presented for accurate valuation. Fortunately both attempts was unsuccessfull and this family relic still in its legal owners hands. The cross decided unique, because of there is no more produced such items. The actual cross made from mother-of-pearl (nacre) and three-deminsional figure of jesus Christ placed on it. Thr figure made from alloy of metals: on the look it seems as silver-unfortunately we was unable to make an analisys of metal, because of owner is very religious human and does not allow to our representative to make any probe. Our appraisal suggest to make test to see if its white Gold, but as I says-owner does not allow us to do this, unfortunately we was unable to find any hallmark or any another stamps confirming the metal. There was very hard period for cross during 70years of soviet union, because of religion had been denied with soviet politics and all religious utensils and churches had been destroyed. It was a big success and fortune that the owner kept the cross and safe it from soviet politics.
